The Association of Chemical Distributors (KLF) is an association of professional Norwegian distributors of industrial chemicals and raw-materials. The members are partly subsidiaries of foreign companies, partly independent Norwegian distributors/agents.
The member companies of KLF are committed to a high ethical standard and are selling their products in accordance with the special Norwegian legal conditions for sales and distribution of chemicals. One of the most important tasks for KLF is to update and assist the member companies in the complicated legal provisions for import and sales of chemicals in the Norwegian market. KLF's member companies conviction is to represent the Best Practice in this particular industry. It's KLF's ambition that authorities, customers, suppliers and consumers to a larger extent will acknowledge this guiding principle of KLF. KLF is entitled to comment and influence on bills and suggestions presented by the Authorities. KLF's main concern in this respect is to increase the degree of harmonization with other trading partners, in particular with EU, to avoid trade barriers. These efforts are conducted in close cooperation with The Federation of Norwegian Industries - Norsk Industri - (http://www.norskindustri.no). KLF's members are about to introduce Responsible Care (http://www.norskindustri.no/MILJO/rc_start.asp), a voluntary worldwide environmental initiative committing its members to openness and continuous improvements within Safety, Health and Environmental issues (SHE). KLF's members stress the importance of RC as this is considered as the best possible tool taking care of SHE issues being important for employees, neighbours, customers and consumers in general.
